The Certified Fragrance Sales Specialist course is designed to recognise the professionalism of fragrance selling. It allows qualified participants to be tested and certified based upon a pre-determined body of knowledge, including the generic world of fragrance and the basic techniques of successful selling
The qualification is called the Certified Fragrance Sales Specialist - CFSS - and it embodies key aims of The Fragrance Foundation and as such of Fragrance Foundation Arabia to raise awareness of fragrance and to educate. To qualify as a CFSS involves participating in a unique fragrance training course followed by an exam.
The course is extremely comprehensive and includes the history of fragrance and a thorough grounding on fragrance families and olfactory and fragrance terms. Qualified Certified Fragrance Sales Specialists will gain an immense amount of practical fragrance know-how including a thorough understanding of the construction of classic and modern fragrances, techniques to improve sense of smell and how the qualified CFSS can best use their new found expertise. The Study Guide has been prepared in conjunction with one of the most respected authorities in the field of certification, as well as the US Sense of Smell Institute and members of the fragrance industry from retail, manufacturing and sales training.
Fragrance Foundation Arabia has adapted the content of the original Study Guide according to the market scenario and market needs in the Middle.
The Study Guide is available in English and Arabic.
All applicants who pass the exam earn the distinctive title of Certified Fragrance Sales Specialist and receive a C.F.S.S. certificate and the specially-designed C.F.S.S. insignia pin.

Requirements
To qualify for the Certification exam, a sales specialist must:
- Must be an employee of a FFA member company
- Have worked in fragrance sales for at least one year
- Receive a recommendation to work towards certification from his or her supervisor, retailer or vendor
- Complete the necessary online application and fee process
- Agree to prepare for the exam by studying the Certification Study Guide
- Be accepted by the independent Certification Advisory Board
Any qualified fragrance sales specialist or fragrance industry member who wishes to:
- Increase his or her professionalism and fragrance knowledge
- Achieve a trusted credential of professionalism in the fragrance field
- Enhances sales specialists’ authority
- Inspires confidence
- Improves customer experiences
- Increases fragrance sales
The Certification Program is offered twice a year exclusively for members of The Fragrance Foundation, in the fall and in the spring. The course runs from February to April and August to October each year and thanks to the online flexibility candidates can choose when and where to log in and study. Once each candidate has completed their studies they can take the online exam anytime between 1st April and 15th April 2010 and 1st October and 31st October 2010.
The cost of participating in the programme is AED 920 for members of the Foundation.
